IN THE AFRICAN CULTURE, A STRONG WOMAN IN THE HOUSE EQUATES TO A STRONG FAMILY. WHEN YOU EMPOWER THE WOMAN, YOU EMPOWER THE FAMILY.

- Laura Kirangi, R.A.h. founder

Maisha Tele, Swahili for “full life,” is a program focused on empowering women.

By partnering with individual entrepreneurs to help them expand their existing businesses, as well as provide new work opportunities to broaden their skill-sets, we have seen many women financially sustain their families on a consistent basis.

In 2011, we began our first empowerment group with six women. Each of our artisans attended classes and received one on one training from local professionals. After completing their classes, they began creating high end, hand-made jewelry, with materials sourced from local markets to sell locally and internationally through R.A.H.

Over the years, we have had several workshop locations within Nairobi. We currently partner with individual artisans that create and operate out of their own spaces and local markets. We look forward to reopening our Maishi Tele workshop in 2020 to house new and existing artisans.

THE HOPE OF EVERY NATION IS IN THE LIVES OF IT’S YOUNGEST GENERATION. IT IS THESE LIVES THAT WILL SHAPE AND DETERMINE IT’S FUTURE.

- LAURA KIRANGI, R.A.H. FOUNDER

Karibu Nyumbani, swahili for “WelcomeHome,” is at the heart of our feeding program.  Since 2011, R.A.H. has partnered with Strong Tower church in Kawangware, Kenya to help provide nutritious food, creative activities, biblical teaching and lots of laughs and love for the children of Kawangware on a weekly basis.

Family to us is not defined by sharing the same DNA or being from the same tribe or nation.  We are all children of God, and scriptures tell us, “He sets the lonely in families.”  So family looks like belonging, and we’ve opened our arms wide to embrace as many as we can and share the resources, love and fellowship that flows from our hearts with every child who comes through Karibu Nyumbani.

I CAN DO THINGS YOU CANNOT, YOU CAN DO THINGS I CANNOT; TOGETHER WE CAN DO GREAT THINGS.

- MOTHER TERESa

R.A.H. understands the importance of local and global partnerships and are so grateful for the many that we have had over the years.

Congo 17 and Heshima are two Nairobi based organizations that share our same commitment to love our neighbors as ourselves.  Every international outreach team serving with us has an opportunity to serve these two amazing organizations with us.

Since 2010, R.A.H. has been financially supporting Strong Tower church and its pastors, Joseph and Rosemary Githiomi.  In 1998, God gave Rosemary a dream that described a specific building in Kawangware that was to be their church.  Since they didn’t know where this building was, they prayer-walked the streets and interceded for their community while waiting on God to reveal the location.  In 2005, Strong Tower church was established in the Congo district, which is the poorest, most divided and drug influenced area in Kawangware.  Starting with nothing more than an iron sheet room, Strong Tower faithfully served as a beacon of hope in that area for nine years.  Because of the hope we find in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and the steadfast love of the Githiomis, many were saved, healed and delivered in the Congo district.

In 2016, the Lord shifted the Githiomi’s into a new season of pastoring outside of the Congo district and into their own community within Kawangware.  Since the birth of Strong Tower, its seats have mostly been filled with the youth within the community. Joseph and Rosemary are looked to as a father and mother in their community and are committed to shepherding those that God puts in their path. R.A.H. loves supporting their community outreach and Strong Tower church, this includes the families that are a part of our weekly feeding program and blessing bag distributions.
